Lina León (flamenco singer and historic flutes)
Born in Andalusia, Spain, where she began her music studies at the age of 8, influenced by her father, a flamenco/classical guitarist. She Graduated with distinction at Seville Superior Conservatory, moving on to the Amsterdam Conservatory, where she
post- graduated in historical flutes and contemporary music. She has been Principal of the Barcelona Opera House Academy Orchestra and has been employed in tablaos (flamenco venues) such as “Palacio del Flamenco” and “Los Tarantos” in Barcelona.Currently based in London, she combines her collaborations with various flamenco companies in UK as she works alongside Sir J. E. Gardiner’s Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and other top period orchestras in Europe, performing in venues such as Opéra Comique, Paris, RAH (BBC Proms) or Carnegie Hall, New York.
JOHN CROCKATT (violin, viola)
Originally from Norfolk John's interest extends into many areas of music. As a player he performs on both the violin and viola specialising in the music of the baroque and classical eras. He has performed in such venues as the Concertgebouw, the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Cité de la Musique in Paris and has played and recorded with groups including the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the English Baroque Soloists.
As well as the performance of early music John also has a keen interest in the anthropology of music and holds a masters degree in ethnomusicology from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. He also enjoys practicing Tai Chi, exploring Walthamstow marshes near where he lives in London and reading Chaucer aloud.
