Driven by our love and passion for both Early Music and Jazz, we have created a new project with Gilad Atzmon,
one of the greatest Jazz musicians today and a true force of elemental creativity, seeking to find new and meaningful encounter points between these seemingly different sound worlds.
Theorbo, viola da gamba, and saxophone meet where the expressive harmonies of French baroque composer Marin Marais are foil to exhilarating Jazz improvisation, the hypnotic bass lines of Henry Purcell blend with the arabesques of Middle Eastern music and Bach and the Blues bond in alchemy that promises to move and thrill audiences while defying categories of place and time.
"This was a wonderful concert !
The collaboration between the early music duo Amphion Consort and the celebrated jazz musician Gilad Atzmon worked extremely well and has been much enthused about here since, both by seasoned classical music lovers and also by those people curious to listen to jazz improvisation in the context of Bach, Purcell and so on. It proved to be a particularly fruitful synthesis of genres and personalities, and we felt truly privileged to have them perform for us at the Harwich Festival."
